Choreography premiered by Danza Contemporánea de Cuba in 1987 and inspired by the eponymous play by the Peruvian playwright Alonso Alegría. This duet centres on a tightrope walk across Niagara Falls, showcasing the focus and sheer strength of the dancers as they move flawlessly across the stage. Boán’s El cruce sobre el Niágara is one of the most important pieces of modern Cuban dance. Premiered by Acosta Danza on 10 April 2016 at the Gran Teatro de La Habana ‘Alicia Alonso’.
