Thu, 19/05/2022 - 15:23

Acosta Danza, under the direction of the first dancer Carlos Acosta, will present its new season “JUVENTUD en el Nacional” on May 27th, 28th and 29th and June 3rd, 4th and 5th, in the Sala Avellaneda of the National Theater.

These performances will have as their main attraction the performance of the new promotion of dancers that is already part of the company's cast. The young dancers, graduates of the Acosta Danza Academy, will completely assume the program made up of the popular pieces Paysage, soudain, la nuit, choreographed by the Swedish Pontus Lidberg, with music by Leo Brouwer and Stefan Levin; The death of two swans, a duet inspired by the mythical work of Mijaíl Fokín, based on the music of the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns.

The show Huella will continue, solo by the young dancer and choreographer Héctor Rodríguez, a student of the Acosta Danza Academy, and the duet Nosotros, by Beatriz García and Raúl Reinoso, with music by Pepe Gavilondo. The show ends with Satori, the award-winning creation by Raúl Reinoso, a work that also has a musical score by Gavilondo.

Tickets for “JUVENTUD en el Nacional” will be on sale at the National Theater box office from Tuesday, May 24th, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Since its stage debut, Acosta Danza has the goal of performing dance shows in full accordance with the most current notions that are developed in the world, not only in terms of body movement but in everything related to the scene.

The company defines itself as a space for renewal, search and experimentation for Cuban artists, and also opens doors to the world's creators, choreographers, musicians, designers, plastic and audiovisual artists.

Its choreographic repertoire includes titles by Carlos Acosta, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Justin Peck, Marianela Boán, Goyo Montero, Saburo Teshigawara, Pontus Lidberg, Christopher Bruce, Rafael Bonachela, María Rovira, Jorge Crecis, Juliano Nunes, among others.
